Sew along for WeCare

Would you like to help make a difference?

On International Women's Day, we come together for something that is about more than ourselves. We want to do something concrete for others.

You may have already read about our partnership with the Danish NGO Blossom Project , which works for women in vulnerable situations in Denmark.

This applies, among other things:

  • women living in homelessness

  • women who have fled violent relationships

  • sex workers (who in the vast majority of cases are women)

For many of these women, shelters and shelters are an important safety net. But when it comes to menstruation , many of these places face a major challenge.

When menstrual products are not a given

Shelters and shelters receive public funds to cover basic needs. But there is a challenge:

They are welcome to use funds on toilet paper .
But they are not allowed to use them on menstrual products .

This means that shelters and hostels are in practice dependent on donations if they are to be able to help their users with pads, tampons or other menstrual products.

And this is where Blossom Project's initiative WeCare comes into play.

WeCare – small bags with big meaning

The WeCare program consists of small bags that are sewn by volunteers and filled with donated products.

The bags contain, among other things:

  • menstrual products

  • sanitary napkins

  • hand sanitizer

  • small practical everyday items

The bags are then distributed to menstruating people in vulnerable situations.

A small bag may sound like a simple thing.
But for the recipient it can make a big difference .

It allows you to handle your period with dignity and security .

Sew with us

That's why we've teamed up with Johanne Kohlmetz – one of Denmark's most talented creative enthusiasts and author of several books about sewing, DIY and upcycling.

Together with Johanne, we invite you to sew WeCare bags with us .

If you have:

  • a little residue lying around

  • a sewing machine

  • desire to make a difference

then you are already well underway.

You can easily download the sewing guide HERE .

Goal: 100 bags

Our goal is to produce 100 WeCare bags by March 31, 2023 .

On the day, we invite some of you to our office, where we will pack the bags with the donated products together.

It will be both cozy – and meaningful.

How to return your bag

You can hand in the bags you sew:
