Flow Sweater – Knitting pattern created in collaboration with Spektakelstrik
Flow Sweater is a modern knitting pattern developed in collaboration between Spektakelstrik and Flow Intimates. The sweater combines Spektakelstrik's distinctive design universe with Flow's mission to create greater openness about menstruation and women's health.
The iconic pattern of small blood drops is a subtle detail with a bigger message: making something we all know a little easier to talk about.
Flow Sweater has been worn by Helle Thorning-Schmidt, among others, and is created for those who love complete design with a story.
A sweater with a message
Flow Sweater is about more than knitwear.
Each little drop of blood in the pattern symbolizes a natural part of life that has been taboo for too long. The sweater is an invitation to curiosity, conversation and greater openness about menstruation – without compromising on aesthetics.
It's a sweater that can both be worn with pride and create small moments of reflection in everyday life.
Take time to knit
Knitting requires presence, calm and time. For many, it becomes a respite from a busy everyday life – an opportunity to slow down and immerse themselves.
At Flow, we often talk about the importance of listening to your body throughout your cycle. Taking small breaks can be especially valuable during the late luteal phase or on menstrual days when your body may need a little extra care.
Flow Sweater is therefore not only a finished design, but also a process that invites you to create something with your hands – one stitch at a time.

The sweater is knitted flat from the top down on the body. First, the back is knitted, then the front is knitted out from the back. The front and back are sewn together at the sides, and stitches are picked up for the sleeves and neck. The drops are knitted using the intarsia technique and are then brushed with a mohair brush to achieve a fluffy look.
Mohair brush sold separately.

Remember a brush for your Flow Sweater

The mohair brush is used to make the blood drops on your Flow Sweater *fluffy*. You can generally use it to brush up your knitwear. Good for long-haired fibers such as mohair and angora.

Spectacle knit x Flow
Spektakelstrik and Flow Intimates designed the sweater with two missions:
1) It's time to give menstruation (and menopause) more conversation time in public – and the sweater, with its blood drops, is a great conversation starter.
2) Because knitting is a wonderful way to find and give oneself peace, which is easily forgotten in a societal rat race where we all have to perform equally.
"We hope the sweater will allow for reflection and good conversations in public, and certainly also pride for the person who knits it. Pride in the small break from everyday life it required to be created – and pride in wearing the blood that we are so used to hiding far, far away."
- Mie Firring and Cathrine Wichmand
