We deserve better
Why choose menstrual panties from Flow?
After two fertility treatments and two births, I no longer wanted to use menstrual products that went inside the body – I wanted to be able to bleed in peace.
This was the beginning of Flow – the first period underwear on the Danish market.
Today, we make period underwear with a focus on comfort, quality, and responsible production – created by people who menstruate themselves.
✔️ Soft, skin-friendly materials
✔️ Different absorbency levels
✔️ Comfort like regular underwear
✔️ A more eco-friendly alternative to disposable products
Our mission is to make menstruation more free, secure, and less inconvenient — without compromising on style or function.
Best regards, Cathrine

FAQ
How long do period panties last?
The general expectation for the lifespan of socks and underwear is approximately 3 years. These are items of clothing that are worn out and used every day.
Since we do not add chemical treatment to the pad, no function will be lost.
If you take good care of your period pants and wash them according to the instructions, the quality of our period pants is so good that you can easily use them for 3 years or even longer.
Here you will find our guide on how to best care for your period pants.
How do I choose the best fit for me?
We have menstrual panties that fit different bodies - whether you prefer a low rise, mid rise or high rise fit.
The Period Flow Brief and Period Flow Shorts both have a high waist, which is loved by many for the feeling of a hug around the belly.
Period Flow Cheeky has a more sporty look but with a wide and soft elastic at the waist - it is mid-rise.
Then we also have the classic low-waisted fit , which is a super nice, basic menstrual panty if discretion under the panty hem is *your thing*.
How long can I use them at a time?
It depends on your flow and your cycle day - as well as the absorbency of the panties.
But changing your menstrual panties at least morning and night is good hygiene - think of your absorbent underwear just like pads and tampons. They need to be changed every now and then.
But unlike tampons, for example, you are not at risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, as menstrual panties are a non-invasive menstrual product.

How do menstrual panties work?
Menstrual panties look and feel like regular panties, but have a discreet absorbent panel sewn into the crotch. They are one of the few menstrual panties that you can wear before you actually bleed.
The panel consists of several functional layers that help absorb menstruation, keep the skin dry and give you a greater sense of security throughout the day.
Many people use menstrual panties as an alternative to pads, while others combine them with a menstrual cup or menstrual disc on the heaviest bleeding days.

Frequently asked questions about menstrual panties
What are menstrual panties?
Menstrual panties are underwear with a discreet built-in absorbent panel that collects menstrual blood. From the outside, they look and feel like regular panties, but the inside consists of several functional layers that help absorb the bleeding and provide a dry and comfortable feeling. Many people use menstrual panties as an alternative to pads or as a supplement to a menstrual cup or menstrual disc.
How do menstrual panties work?
Menstrual panties work by using an absorbent panel sewn directly into the panty. The panel consists of several layers with different functions that together help absorb menstruation, transport moisture away from the skin and reduce the risk of leakage. When the panty is full, you simply change to a clean pair – just like you would change a pad.
How long can you wear menstrual panties?
It depends on how heavily you bleed and which model you use. On light days, many people can wear the same menstrual panty for an entire day, while heavier bleeding may require you to change earlier. The most important thing is to change your panty when it feels saturated or damp.
Can menstrual panties replace pads?
Yes. Many people use menstrual panties as a full alternative to pads. For very heavy periods, some choose to combine them with a menstrual cup or menstrual disc for extra security, especially during the first few days of bleeding or at night.
Which menstrual panties should I choose?
It depends on your bleeding and your preferences.
-
High Rise is our classic high-waisted favorite.
-
Soft Collection is for you who want extra soft menstrual panties in organic cotton.
-
Cheeky has an extra long absorbent panel and is ideal for frontal bleeding or if you sleep on your stomach.
-
Shorts provide maximum coverage and are particularly popular at night or during heavy menstruation.
-
The tea is developed with fit and sizes for children and teenagers.
Many people choose several different models so they have the right solution for the entire cycle.
How many menstrual panties do I need?
It depends on your period and how often you wash. Many people start with 3-5 pairs, while others prefer 5-7 pairs, so they have enough for the entire period without having to wash in between.
How do you wash menstrual panties?
Rinse the panties in cold water after use until the water runs clear. Then wash them in the washing machine at the recommended temperature without fabric softener, as fabric softener can affect the absorbent layers. Let them air dry – avoid using a tumble dryer if you want to keep the panties functioning for as long as possible.

Is Flow free of PFAS and biocides?

You can read more about the safety of menstrual panties here.
Can teenagers use menstrual panties?
Yes. Menstrual panties are a popular choice for the first period because they are easy to use and feel like regular underwear. Flow has also developed a special Teen model with fit and sizes for children and young peopleSeveral of our menstrual panties also come in sizes 2XS.
What is the difference between the different models?
The difference lies primarily in fit, absorption level and use.
Some models are designed for maximum comfort during everyday life, others provide extra protection at night or during heavier bleeding. All Flow menstrual panties are built on the same philosophy: They should look and feel like regular underwear, while giving you the security you need throughout your cycle.
